Description

Mike started triathlon in an effort to become healthier and take on a new challenge.  His first triathlon was Kokopelli Sprint where he had no idea what he was doing. Mike fell in love with the sport that day which led to ramping up ambition and completing Ironman St. George 70.3. After successfully finishing several Sprints, Olympics, and 70.3’s he made the monumental decision to attempt his first full Ironman in Texas.

Ironman Texas was the first race he utilized a coach. The experience opened his eyes to many other areas he had not contemplated in the past…this led him to appreciate the impact of a triathlon coach.  He was inspired by the dedication and commitment his coach made and feels strongly his road to being an Ironman was paved by several great coaches.

Earning his USAT Certification and becoming a coach was driven by the example shown to him by so many in the community – his desire is to help triathletes achieve their goals and dreams is now a reality

Coaching Philosophy

Coaching is an excellent opportunity to help people achieve their triathlon dreams.  No matter what the triathlon dream may be, it is an extremely challenging commitment that I want to help you realize.  You may be doing your first Super Sprint or your first Ironman, but either way it can be an intimidating undertaking; I want to help you through it.

Simply making the commitment to sign up and train takes great courage.  The dedication to do the training, to learn, and to prepare for any triathlon takes a winning attitude.  Then to get to the start of the race and be brave enough to do a triathlon is a great accomplishment.  Finally to finish any triathlon is amazing. My goal as a coach is to help you through every step and most importantly to have fun doing it!

When I lined up for my first Ironman I was more confident than the day I lined up for my first Sprint, and that was because I had the benefit of excellent coaching.  Due to the coaching I received I knew that I could meet my goals for the race.  As a coach I want to help you to have that feeling and know that you are can meet and even exceed your goals.

In addition, I am a firm believer that a major part of triathlon is competing against all of our own challenges.  We all have doubts, reservations, fears, past injuries, and physical concerns that we need to overcome when we take on a challenge.  Having someone by your side to help you overcome these limiters makes this challenge more achievable and I would love to be there to see you conquer your own limitations and exceed expectations.
